When building a custom home, why is “Assembling the Team” so important?
Assembling the team early in the design process ensures that your budget and vision are aligned. Our team often includes a site engineer, architect, and client liaison to evaluate the lot and scope of work desired. This strategy fosters clear communication, realistic expectations, and a solutions oriented approach.
What’s the biggest mistake when buying a lot or building a waterfront home?
There are many complex factors to consider when buying a lot or building a home on the Chesapeake Bay. The biggest mistake is buying a lot without consulting with a builder who understands the nuances and can assemble the right team. We work with clients to perform the due diligence necessary to ensure that the lot is feasible and the home they want to build is permissible, given critical area guidelines and local jurisdictions.
Why is Mueller Homes’ approach unique?
I believe it’s important to foster collaboration because it not only enhances the client experience, but it can also create efficiencies. We quarterback the entire construction process, but we are unique because we have additional in-house resources that most builders don’t have. This facilitates tremendous communication and efficiencies for the design process, budgeting, and project meetings.
Our team consists of designers, architects, and subcontractors who we have worked with over the past 30 years. Our designers provide a concierge approach and harness a vast number of resources with our design studio. Technology allows us to create mood boards and renderings that allow clients to experience and walk through their home before it’s built to get a sense of the overall cohesion of the spaces. This creates a very immersive design process.
Our sister company, Charles Henry, creates bespoke custom cabinetry, built-ins, millwork, and exposed wood beams that are inspired by our clients’ and designers’ vision. These elements often serve as the “jewelry” that makes your home truly unique.
