About Us

Meet Our Leadership Team!

With over 30 years of experience, and now a second generation family business, Mueller Homes continues to work with many of the same business partners, trades, and employees that have served our clients for decades.  This consistency and dedication to old-world values like quality, craftsmanship, and integrity is what truly sets us apart.

Over 30 Years of Experience

Since 1992, Mueller Homes has been handcrafting distinctive custom homes and luxury estates throughout Maryland. Our building industry experience, business acumen, and long-standing supplier and sub-contractor relationships have allowed us to weather a variety of market conditions.

In today’s dramatically changing environment, this experience allows us to withstand market fluctuations, rely on trusted resources, maintain proper cash flow, and stay abreast of global supply issues that may impact the pricing or availability of certain materials.

We believe our longevity and experience is a true differentiator and something you will come to appreciate as you build the home of your dreams.

As a family-owned business, working side by side for many years, Paul Mueller, Sr. was able to mentor and teach Paul Mueller, Jr. all of the important lessons learned along the way. By instilling the same strong core values, work ethic, and client-centered vision, the tradition of excellence and client focus will continue for generations to come!

5 Important Considerations When Selecting a Builder

5 Important Considerations When Selecting a Builder

We believe that as you contemplate the luxury custom home building process, the selection of your builder will be one of your most important decisions.  As a matter of fact, it should be given the same careful consideration as any other long term relationship.  Once your choice is made, it’s going to take good communication, hard work, and flexibility to create and maintain that relationship.

In our experience, there are 5 important considerations when selecting a builder.  We discuss each of these considerations in greater detail in our book and even provide checklists you can use to select the builder that is right for you.  Be sure to consider:

  1. Builder’s Business Model & Business Acumen
  2. Builder’s Processes & Approach
  3. The 3 R’s:  References, Reviews & Resources
  4. Apples to Apples Comparisons
  5. Builder’s Experience with Similar Homes

In addition to these considerations, you’ll also want to ask questions to learn how your builder handles:

  • Cash flow & segregation of project funds,
  • Client selections process,
  • Staffing and project management,
  • Quality Assurance
  • Sub-Contractor or supply chain issues

It’s also important to note that the B-Myth is a common challenge in our industry.  We discuss this concept further in our book, but the reality is that some builders have the technical skills but are inexperienced when it comes to running a successful business.  Unfortunately, over the past 30 years, we have seen far too many builders with the B-Myth go out of business – sometimes with the bank or client’s money.

Whether you select Mueller Homes as your builder of choice, or another builder, we want to help you avoid these kinds of horror stories.  Feel free to download our book and checklists which can provide valuable insight, resources, and checklists to help you make informed decisions.
