After 30 years of building a career, raising a family, and balancing the fast-paced lifestyle that comes with a career in New York City, this powerhouse couple found themselves contemplating what kind of lifestyle would suit them best as they approached retirement. The clients had enjoyed living in the small river town of Croton on Hudson for many years. Both were successful leaders in the corporate world of public relations and marketing. Now, with the ability to leave the fast-paced life behind, they wanted to find their forever home on the water in a similarly preserved historic town setting, preferably with milder weather. View the photos and read the story of his luxury custom home building project in Annapolis, Maryland on Mill Creek. The home was designed by Purple Cherry and built by Mueller Homes.
These clients wanted to incorporate three themes into the design of the home - destination, sanctuary, fortress. since the plan is to be here forever, so this home is built to sustain many years of wear and tear.
The homeowner reflects, “The collaboration between the builder and architect was seamless. Mueller’s client concierge provided us with continuous communication and guidance throughout the entire process."
The kitchen and great room provide breathtaking views, with design considerations for how the couple will use the home, as they mature. The Aging in Place concept will allow them to enjoy their home for years to come.
The couple wanted to incorporate transitional design elements. So, the original coffer ceiling design was redesigned with wood beams and custom handcrafted crown molding, window and door trim that complemented the transitional design. The traditional fireplace mantle was redesigned with a seamless horizontal fireplace.
The clients had fond memories of summers spent in the Adirondacks, so Mueller incorporated a bunk room with reclaimed barn wood and door to the privy. The privy door is interesting because few people realize that the lazy moon hides a full rustic bathroom beyond.
The elevated rooftop deck, perfect for an afternoon break, lazy cocktails, and entertaining is also built with consideration for water drainage and protection to the living areas below.
With 180 degrees of Mill Creek, this Annapolis luxury custom home has the perfect location with every detail the client desired.
