Mueller Homes was pleased to have a recent project featured in Annapolis Home Magazine. The project was completed in 2020 and features a collaborative effort between Minnesota architect Kathryn Alexander and Mueller Homes. The feature was aptly titled, “Rustic Retreat.”
The Sykesville, Maryland custom home design brought to life one family’s vision of midwestern lakefront architecture here in the Mid-Atlantic. The home overlooks a 64 acre forest conservation area with running stream in Carroll County, Maryland. The architectural design elements of the home allow the family to feel part of the natural surroundings with expansive windows that provide breathtaking views of the landscape beyond.
Interior Designer Stacia Smith worked closely with the architect, builder, and family to transform the interior into a reflection of the exterior. The same design, color, and tones from the stone, siding, and roof are incorporated into the interior design with a color palette of gray, cream, and beige neutral throughout the home.
Exquisite wood elements throughout the home provide a rustic, yet modern concept. President Paul Mueller, Jr. notes, “This is a very detailed home with high-quality materials. Much of the wood used was hand-selected from early 19th century barns. Yet, it’s a very usable home that’s built for longevity.”
The attention to details does not go unnoticed, with ‘seamless’ custom cabinetry, a one-of-a-kind staircase, and even hidden outlets in the kitchen backsplash that present a flawless design.
